This is the time of year when it is a particularly good time to be reflectively thankful. As Scriptures declare, Eph 5:20 (NIV) always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
As I was at our recent Christmas4Kids and observed the many children with their families or guardians, I know that for every child and adult who attended, there is a story to tell. Some of their stories are difficult, perhaps even heart-breaking ones. So it really warms my heart when I hear about the appreciation expressed by various ones for what we hosted that day. We have truly made a day for so many people. My thanks to everyone who volunteered for the day, you have brought joy to so many.
I enjoyed myself too at the fire engine. I think some of us men had more fun at the fire engine than the kids! It was really interesting talking to the firemen and learning about the different equipment and a bit more about what they do. I had an opportunity to hold a hydraulically operated pincer which they use to open up cars like sardine cans, during car crashes. Pretty powerful stuff.Anyway, I reflected upon the many families and thanked God my own family, with such an incredible wife and wonderful children. I can only say I am blessed. I think about our great church and the many different wonderful individuals that make up our church. Some of you may not always think you are so wonderful, but in God you are precious. Again, I can only say we are blessed.
When I was at the recent Hope Malaysian National Convention at Kuching, it was an awesome time with over 2000 delegates. I can see some of the great things that God is doing through our family of churches. Again, I can only thank God for the privilege of serving Him in this part of the vineyard. Ps. Simon and I had a wonderful and stimulating fellowship with our guest speaker, Ps. Rick Seaward. We are looking forward to closer working relationship with him.
There are so many things to be thankful for and it is of great benefit to meditate upon the goodness of God. Sometimes, we can so caught up with the hustle and bustle of our daily lives and forget to take a step back to discern the hand of God upon our lives. It is amazing when we begin to discern how He has weaved His purposes and His blessings into our lives.
May I encourage you to meditate during this festive season about God’s goodness and may it bless your heart!
Merry Christmas to you,
Wilson Lim
