The last few months have been a very busy time for me as I travelled extensively and hence partly the reason for the pause in this series.
In mid-July, I was in Johor for our Global Conference on the topic of “Vibrant” with a focus on principles of healthy churches. We were privileged to have Rick Seaward of Victory Family Church as our guest speaker. Rick is apostle of a movement of over 6,000 churches. This provided us an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with another key church-planting movement. It amazed me that Rick loved durians as well. Perhaps it is not surprising for an American who grew up in Singapore. In the picture is Rick explaining to Ben the finer art of eating durian. Not really! They were engrossed in more serious topics.
End of July found Lai Ling and myself in New York for the North American Conference where delegates from our churches in USA and Canada gathered. Bill Wilson of Metro Ministries was our guest speaker. We had opportunity to encourage the pastors and ministered to the delegates by the grace of God. We took the opportunity to have a quick tour of New York including Ground Zero, as well as other tourist spots such as the Niagara Falls. Being there in New York gave me a better appreciation of the cultural dynamics occurring in that part of the US.
We were also introduced to the young Canadian team that had recently launched a Hope group on the outskirts of Montreal. God has been gracious to help us launch with native French-speaking Canadians. I am waiting in anticipation to what this high-energy group will achieve.
In late August, I travelled to Kuala Lumpur to attend a C3 Global Conference where some of our key international leaders got acquainted with Phil Pringle and some of his international leaders. On the far left is also Gordon Moore who will be our guest speaker for the OC 2012. These interactions form part of our strategic steps to develop stronger international relationships with key global leaders around the world. This is part of my responsibility as an International Elder of HIM and why I have been investing time participating in C3 Australia activities.
These few months of travel and interaction with leaders around the world has emphasised to me that God is doing wonderful things around the world through His Church. What a privilege it is to be servicing our Almighty God and what a blessing it is also to be part of Hope Church. God has many exciting things in store for us as we continue pressing on with Him.
In anticipation,
Wilson Lim
