As we begin a fresh new year of 2011, it is helpful to reflect on the past year and to consider a couple of key aspects in our lives that we would change in this new year. Change is always necessary if we are to improve. Change is a necessary part of the transformation that God desires to do in our lives.
May I encourage you to consider what I shared last Sunday in my sermon, as one of your New Year resolutions. To be a person of conviction and also to learn how to be strengthened by God. These would be great aspects to grow in for 2011.
In terms of activities, it will be a quiet month for our church. However, it would be a good time to store up our spiritual energies when things heat up again come February. It is also a good time to seek God in line with our HIM global prayer month. We have distributed the prayer items and we ask that every member takes time to pray. As much as possible, do set aside time to fast, at least one meal in each week. I believe God will honour our prayers of faith.
While this month may be slower for some, I am beginning to prepare for our Global Conference in Chiangmai, Thailand. It will be an exciting time with our special guest speaker Ps. Bill Wilson, founder and senior pastor of Metro Ministries, possibly the world largest ministry to children. It runs the largest Sunday school in America, reaching about 20,000 children every week. With our Unidus building project, in late January we will re-commence discussions and negotiations with 2 builders that we have now selected. We hope to have a decision by early February. Do continue to pray with us that we will get the most appropriate builder for the best possible price. The building committee has also commenced another round of discussions with the Council in an attempt to obtain additional concessions to reduce the amount of external road works we need to do. We would appreciate your prayers.
I am looking forward to what 2011 will unfold for us as a church. I will share more in February when most of our members are back.
In anticipation,
Pastor Wilson Lim
