FROM OUR HEARTS - Dec 2010

As we near the end of the year, it is good to look back at the year with thanksgiving. It has been a particularly busy year for me but one I look back at with gratitude to our gracious God.

One thing that always blesses my heart is to see lives changed by the power of God. One way in which it has been so evident to me is when I conducted the 8 weddings this year. As I looked at each couple and consider the varied past that they have come from, what a great joy to see them happily marrying in the sight of God. In some of the weddings, their history has been particularly poignant and I must admit to shedding some tears.

This is but a tiny glimpse of what church is meant to be. A place where lives are touched by God and changed for the better. So many lives have been touched this year. So many have seen breakthroughs, victories and spiritual growth.

Another different front is with the Unidus Community Centre where we have seen the grace of God coming through despite tough obstacles along the way. Getting the additional open space and the relaxation of some vegetation requirements is a breakthrough with Council. While it is not completely what we want, yet it is another step forward that God is taking us. Even now we are at the point of selecting our builder, we are relying upon the grace of God.

This is another glimpse of the hand of God bringing us through obstacles in order that His purposes may come to pass through us. God is guiding us gradually yet surely along His destiny for us as a church. Do continue to pray with us for God’s provision and for the release of all our financial needs for this project. That God will guide us to appoint the right builder for our project.

Last week when I was at the Christmas 4 Kids, a father came up to me to express his gratitude for the event. His family has been attending our event for 3 years in a row and have been blessed each time. He has responsibility of 6 foster children in addition to his own 2 children. Coming to an event like this is like a God send at Christmas time. This reminds me again how precious our community event is.

Again, this is another glimpse of how our church can impact the community. Acts of kindness, acts of giving can bring hope to many struggling people in our community.

So I wish to take this opportunity to commend every one of you for making this church a great church. It is your faith, your participation and commitment that makes all the difference.

May you enjoy the Christmas season and may God refresh you for a coming year.

Merry in Christ,
Wilson Lim
